Class Blurb
Learn to distinguish installation requirements from best practices and compare installation recommendations to the realities of what we see in the field. This class will discuss climate zones, the Hardie warranty, the history of fiber cement siding, distinguishing various brands of fiber cement siding and common installation defects. We will look at lap siding, rain screens and panel and channel installations, including a detailed look and clearance and flashing requirements. The class will finish with several case studies of field slides designed to flush out what we should say about older siding installations that are not installed to today’s standards.


Class Objective

Participants will come away excited and anxious to inspect fiber cement siding, knowing they can inspect any fiber cement siding installation with confidence.
